What do you do when a customer challenges your product’s ease of use?
What if they look at your complex, technical solution and say: “If this is so easy to use, why don’t you do it yourself?”
Well… if you’re Joe at CN Bio, you might say, “Hold my beer.” (Metaphorically, of course. Keep the beer out of the lab)
A little context: CN Bio produces revolutionary organ-on-a-chip technology that allows scientists to conduct crucial research without testing on animals** (🎉). But while Joe spent a bit of time in laboratories years ago, he isn't an active scientist today. So when a client called his bluff on how user-friendly their PhysioMimix® Core System was, Joe’s response was simple:
"Sure. I’ll prove it, and I’ll get the whole thing on camera."*
This is where we came in. What started as a friendly challenge transformed into an 8-part video series called "Not Your Average Joe."
For marketing leaders and agency owners, this turned a fun client bet into a way to turn complex B2B products into authentic and informative video content.
Below we’ve outlined the key strategies to make a video campaign structure that works perfectly for any b2b brands, especially those whose service or product is technical or complex.
*All conversations are approximations and tell the vibe of the story. They are not verbatim and not to be taken as such.

When marketing managers outsource for video production, we are asked: “How do we make technical content engaging without making our team look unprofessional?”
We believe done correctly personable is professional.
Here is how we did this for CN Bio:
We swapped rigid scripts for an actual scenario where the audience could get behind the team on camera. By following the journey of a non-expert, it allowed potential customers to see the process as similar to what their situation could be, setting this up in their own lab. If Joe could set up the system, any lab team could.
To guide Joe, we brought in Isavella, an expert scientist from CN Bio’s R&D team. This pairing allowed the audience to have somebody in their corner asking questions as if in their place naturally. Having a "learner" with an "expert" dynamic creates natural dialogue that the audience can relate to. It also allowed the expert to focus on their expertise (making them more comfortable on camera), and it removed the pressure of memorising lines, letting both of their natural chemistry and humour shine through. They both nearly forgot the cameras were there.

Rather than dumping one long, 20-minute video on YouTube, we produced an 8-episode mini-series that served two distinct marketing functions:
The episodic format allowed potential customers multiple entry points to engage with the content. Those who were looking to purchase and are researching specific features can skip to the bite-sized video which they were interested in. For example, if a researcher currently performs Organ-on-a-chip experiments with different technology, they could easily watch the episode which relates to the specific part of the process which they want to streamline in their workflow.
As you’ll know, each video shoot has a finite amount of time to capture the content you need. The key to making outsourced video work is production efficiency.
By working closely with CN Bio to plan the episode's content and technical requirements befrehand, we captured all 8 episodes in a streamlined production window.
This meant minimal disruption to CN Bio's busy lab operations, zero stress for their internal team, and a goldmine of multi-channel video assets that their marketing team could deploy across social, email, and sales enablement campaigns for months.
Curious to see how Joe handled the challenge, how we shot the series in a live lab environment, and the results it generated for CN Bio’s marketing team?
